Sun Capsule, a leading manufacturer and distributor of premium vertical tanning systems, has an enhanced team heading into the 2015 season led by new owner, Tom Holland.
A 30-year veteran of the financial services industry, Tom is known for successfully creating and implementing strategies that take companies to the next level. Looking for a new challenge outside that industry, Tom recently acquired Sun Capsule.
“In an effort to support our future growth, the Sun Capsule team is growing rapidly,” Holland said. The sales team consists of four professionals with nearly 100 years of combined industry experience, led by EVP of National Accounts, Wayne Chevie. Wayne has been with Sun Capsule since 1997 and has over 30 years of industry experience.
Leslie Browne joined Sun Capsule in October 2014 as Chief of Staff and brings over 25 years of management and marketing experience to her position.
“We recently added an FDA Specialist who is spearheading our 510k certification process to ensure our customers are compliant with the new FDA regulations,” Tom continued. “Rounding out the team is a support staff that provides our customers with the highest level of service, and technicians who have longevity with Sun Capsule and extensive experience building our state-of-the-art equipment.”
Tom plans to be the first booth manufacturer to complete the 510k process in the first quarter of 2015, expand R&D, and reintroduce an in-house financing program, among other goals. “We see a number of opportunities for continued evolution of the Sun Capsule line,” Tom said. “Prior to rolling out the technological enhancements we are looking to make, we want to make sure we have done our due diligence and have obtained feedback from our loyal customers and end users.” The company plans to expand its private labeling capabilities so that salons offering Sun Capsule systems can build their own brand recognition.
“Our goals are simple,” Tom explained. “We would like every salon to have a customized booth that helps them promote their brand image in the marketplace. We want to deliver a tanning system that produces superior results for every tanner, runs virtually maintenance free and delivers the highest return on investment of any equipment in the salon.” Sun Capsule will continue its strategic partnership with Cosmedico and other key industry players.
Tom is proud to have been appointed to the Board of the Indoor Tanning Association (ITA). “I look forward to helping shape future regulation of the industry in a manner that can reasonably work for all involved,” he commented. ■
“We have been using Sun Capsules in our locations for over ten years now. Their performance is unmatched and the custom branding makes them a perfect fit for our locations. Further, with commercial rent rates at their highest levels, square footage is a premium. Unlike other brands, Sun Capsule gives the option of an attached dressing room, allowing us to fit two units in the same space we could fit only one unit from any of the competing brands. This allows us to maximize the use of our square footage, without reducing the number of tanning units in our stores.” Brian Hibbard, President South Beach Tanning Company
“For the past three decades, I have owned and operated Tanorama salons throughout the Boston area and Sun Capsule booths have been a vital part of my equipment line-up. These booths have always been my most reliable machines. So when I recently acquired Golden Tan, one of the first things I did was add a new Sun Capsule Vitesse, and I must say I was impressed. The difference between this booth and all of my older models is truly impressive. Anyone who has an old Sun Capsule will be surprised when they see the new Vitesse. It’s a winner!” Tim Forkin, Owner Tanorama and Golden Tan
