1. How did you get into the tanning industry?
I started importing tanning beds to the U.S. in 1978 and opened the first Midnight Sun® salon (national chain) on Madison Avenue in NYC the same year.
2. What is the best thing about your job?
I get to build businesses and be part of successes.
3. What do you do in your spare time?
I grow grapes, drink wine, cook for my friends, travel, sail and fish, as well as devoting time to good causes in my community.
4. What’s your “pet peeve?”
Ignorant dermatologists and politicians who are not recognizing the value of UV light or are in lobbyists’ pockets; but, also, ignorant salon operators who only complain, yet when you try to help, they know it all – as opposed to those who ask questions and then get to work on their own success.
5. What’s your favorite food?
Any good, fresh food.
6. What’s your favorite TV show?
I generally watch sports and news.
7. What’s at the top of your “Bucket List?”
Launching a new Vitamin D machine, which already has gone through clinical trials.
