How and when did you get into the tanning industry?
I actually stumbled into it about 18 months ago when I applied to work at the Devoted Creations Corporate office. I’ve been an avid tanner for years, but never knew too much about the industry. Before my job at DC, I worked in the beauty industry and as a freelance makeup artist for several years, so it was a perfect fit – I have always loved promoting products that make people feel their best, which made me very excited and interested to learn everything I could about all of our products. My skincare background and knowledge of cosmetics has helped so much now that I am in the tanning industry, because skincare ingredients are so universal and cross over into all of the DC lotions. Now, fast-forward to today – I love all things tanning and could not be happier working in this industry! I continue to grow and learn new things every day.
Necessities aside, what one thing could you not go a day without?
It’s a tie between my boyfriend and my puppies. I have two Labs, a chocolate and a yellow, and I definitely could not go a day without any of them in my life.
What was your very first job?
I was a restaurant hostess! I was 17, just graduated high school, and it was the perfect first job for me. I learned so many customer service skills and I honestly think everyone should have at least one service industry job in their life.
What is one of your biggest pet peeves?
I have a few: loud chewers, bad drivers, being late, slow walkers, and random people who tell me to “smile” when I am grocery shopping. (Sir, I do not need to smile while picking out my avocados, I’m good!)
If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
I love this question. I honestly think about this all the time! I am vegan and eat a very plant-based diet on a daily basis. If I could only eat one meal for the rest of my life, my practical side would need something nutritious that I would not get bored with too easily – and the only answer I can come up with is POTATOES! I know it may seem a little odd, but you can have fries, chips, wedges, bake them, mash them … the possibilities are endless and they are good for you.
If you were a superhero, what special power would you have?
I have always wanted to have the power of invisibility/force field. I’ve always thought that Violet from “The Incredibles” and Sue Storm from “Fantastic Four” had the BEST powers. I would definitely have a lot of fun with it!
If you had a “WARNING” label, what would it say?
“May randomly do a tiktok dance to the music in my head at ANY time.” My boss (Lisa Saavedra, you may have heard of her) calls it “Tiktok Tourettes’’ because they are so random and I can’t help but do them all the time. I constantly have viral songs in my head, and sometimes I just have to dance to them!
