1. How and when did you get into the tanning industry?
I played soccer for 15 years in California, and had developed some real gnarly tan lines that I needed to get rid of. So, after moving to Florida in 2015, I got a membership at the nearest tanning salon and then started working there about a year later.
2. What was your very first job?
My first job was at Sweet Tomatoes (restaurant) because my best friend worked there and my mom and I used to go there so much that all the managers knew us. I had also just turned 19 and after sort of skating through high school without a job, my parents told me that now that I was in college, I had to get one.
3. What’s your favorite holiday and why?
Oh, this is an easy one – CHRISTMAS! It’s been my favorite holiday since I was little because I love all the lights and Christmas music and I will always believe in Santa; but most importantly, I get to spend time with my family and my boyfriend’s family. Since moving to Florida, I only get to see my family one or two times a year and it was always in December and January during my winter break from school. But every year, I start listening to Christmas music in October (sometimes August just for fun) and decorate my apartment as early as I possibly can!
4. What is one of your biggest pet peeves?
Well if I had to choose only one, I would say it’s when people don’t show up on time to places or for meetings, and especially when they know they’re always late but they don’t try to fix it! Like, I am pretty sure they can wake up just a little earlier to make sure that they show up on time. If I had to choose a second one, it would be slow drivers! My boyfriend told me one day that he was scared to be in the car with me driving because I have road rage tendencies … but I just like to get where I’m going in a timely fashion.
5. Necessities aside, what one thing could you not go a day without?
It’s a tie: Chapstick and dry shampoo! The amount of chapstick I have is probably a problem, but I lose them faster than I can buy them, and then I find the ones I lost in jackets or purses in my closet – or in the dryer when I forget to take them out of my pockets (haha!) I currently have about seven Chapsticks in my purse but really don’t know how they all ended up there. Now, I cannot live without dry shampoo because – let’s be honest – it is just an amazing invention.
6. How would your friends describe you?
Okay … first, they would say I have a shopping addiction (they’re not wrong), and they say it about once a week. They would also describe me as determined, strong, fun, sweet, loving and that I am a snacker because I have snacks ALL the time. I definitely snack more than I eat real meals!
7. What would you change about yourself if you could?
I don’t think I really want to “change” anything because it would change who I am. However, I could definitely work on my stress level. I have sort of always taken on so many things telling myself that I can do it all (and it all eventually gets done), but there aren’t enough hours in the day sometimes and then I get upset with myself that I couldn’t get it all done! I’ve struggled with it for so many years – then, I always tell myself it will all be fine … and I go take a tanning break.
