As indoor tanning professionals, there are so many positive things happening in our beloved industry for us to enjoy. For example, there seems to be a large number of people purchasing tanning salons these days. Although Teresa Chism opened South Beach Tanning Fantasy last July, she and her husband Mark Schwien are no strangers to salon ownership. The couple has purchased, rehabilitated and sold two tanning salons in the past; but they have different plans for South Beach. “This salon is definitely a keeper!” Mark exclaimed. “With its curved walls, stone floors and contemporary decor, it’s the most gorgeous salon we’ve ever seen, and it’s located in the busiest part of Springfield. We just know it will be a huge success.” In just 12 months, Teresa increased profits at the business by at least 23 percent. Her secret – adding body wrap services and utilizing social media marketing tips she picked up at various tanning symposium events. “We know that wanting to achieve the same kind of numbers that the salon had in the 1990s is expecting a lot; but, I know that if anyone can do it, it’s Teresa,” Mark added. “She definitely has the passion, energy and experience to make it happen!”
