Dear Readers,
Hope your Busy Season is now on “cruise control” and your numbers are looking healthy!
Yes, you have to make the most of it while it’s here – and your monthly IST is always loaded with articles to help you work smarter, whip your team into shape. Some of a salon’s biggest profit-killers are staff turnover and poor sales – are these factors affecting your bottom line? Do you have new-hires in need of training? It’s never too late – check out sunislife.info and get your team on the path to professionalism TODAY with Sun is Life® Training & Certification.
Training is the key to professionalism in this business; a professional tanning facility operates with a focus on industry best practices – not making medical claims about our services. The New York state attorney general’s office recently levied $20,000 in fines on a large salon chain for making “misleading health claims” about their services. Really? Not only is that NOT SMART, but it also makes all of us look bad – and none of us can afford that, with all the federal scrutiny now directed at tanning businesses.
You will never find any content in IST suggesting you disregard regulations that govern our industry. But, we do suggest that you help fight them! Be sure to read “ITA Update,” stay informed and get involved.
IST has always been involved with promoting our industry’s success; one way is by keeping our content fresh, practical and relevant. We welcome Grant Cardone back onto the Contributors list; since he headlined our 2011 Executive Trade Event in Chicago, he’s been busy building million-dollar businesses. He’s got a lot of expert advice to share in “Your Monthly Motivation”. And, we have more input from tanning pros who shared some tips for keeping the momentum going beyond Busy Season into the months typically slower for most salons. Finally, we caught up with a group of women who call the tan biz home – they took the time to share fun stuff, as well as some words of wisdom. We enjoy including content in IST that helps bring the tanning community together. Check out the “Go-getter Gals”.
As always, I welcome your suggestions for topics we can cover – we’re here to help you make it happen!
