BINGHAMTON, NY – To thank her community for 30 years of support, Gina Martinichio of California SunDaze Tanning Studio & Coffee & Smoothie Bar has hosted a fundraiser for local animal charities. She created “Fur-tastic Friday,” when salon guests vote for a local animal charity to receive donated funds. For a $5 donation, guests get a free upgrade and lotion packette, and for a $15, they receive a mug filled with lotions and samples. Martinichio is happy to announce that her “Furmometer” reached $11,000 in donations in 11 months!

The salon recently donated to local K-9 units – $117 toward each dog’s training and supplies. “We received amazing press for our efforts and the dogs even came to the salon to thank us!” Martinichio exclaimed. She has also donated to Every Dog’s Dream, a foster program of the local humane society, SPEAK Cat Sanctuary & Spay/Neuter Clinic, and All Animals Matter Emergency Care. This year, she’s adding a local wildlife sanctuary and an equine therapy farm.

Martinichio has even bigger plans! She is cross-promoting with several fast food restaurants to get free food coupons, which she hopes will help underwrite all the giveaways involved with the fundraisers. Many lotion companies and product distributors have generously donated.

“Our guests are buying upgrades and lotions they have sampled on Fur-tastic Fridays,” adds the charitable salon owner. “We’ve really created a lot of energy and interest in all our offerings!”
