Kim Demetroulas
Account Manager Heartland Tanning
1 How/when did you get into the tanning industry?
My family has been in the industry for several decades. I am proud to say my parents, Peter and Julie Demetroulas, owned one of the first tanning salons in the U.S. in the early ‘80s. That lead to the importation and distribution of tanning equipment, and then to building their own successful equipment line, Tan America.
2 My first job in the tanning industry was…
My parents put me to work as a clerical assistant. I still remember that electric typewriter!
3 What is the best gift you’ve been given?
The greatest gifts were from my father – a brilliant businessman who truly connects with people. He educates, mentors and provides a higher level of service than anyone else. That earned him trust and loyalty and in business, that is everything. Because of his example, I have enjoyed a successful, 26-year career in an industry I love!
4 What are your hobbies?
There are so many … you are likely to find me outdoors. I love to boat, hike, and most of all garden. My backyard is my oasis.
5 Are you an amateur chef or a takeout fan?
The kitchen is my happy place! One of my favorite things to make is Chicken Parmesan – I love to bring delicious recipes to life.
6 Necessities aside, what one thing could you not go a day without?
I could not go a day without my sweet rescue pup, Bailey. He was quite a challenge at first – he bit a few houseguests and loved to chew on everything! Love and patience are all he needed. The transformation from a malnourished, sick street dog to precious companion has been miraculous.
7 If you had a warning label, what would it say?
