7 Questions with Megan Amburgey Sunless Specialist Four Seasons Sales & Service

1. How did you get started in the tanning industry?

During high school, I worked in the Four Seasons Sales & Service warehouse pulling and packing tanning lotion orders. While there, I had the opportunity to get to know (former FS owners) the Allen brothers. When I graduated high school in 2004, I moved to the Nashville area to attend MTSU (Middle Tennessee State University) and the Allens asked me if I would be interested in working at their 50-bed Express Tan salon in Brentwood, TN. I quickly worked my way up to assistant manager, store manager, and after graduating from college in 2008, I was promoted to district manager. While working at the salon, I had the opportunity to expand the sunless side of the business and fell in love with handheld spray-tanning. I was able to build up the custom spray-tanning to a dedicated three days a week from 11am-7pm (every 20 min.) and we were booked! I then trained other employees to spray-tan. Once I became district manager, I was able to use my knowledge to help build up the custom spray-tanning at the six facilities that I was overseeing. Almost ten years later, I moved back to my hometown of Paris, TN to be closer to family and friends. I received a call from Four Seasons and was asked to interview for a sunless position and a few years later, here we are today!

2. What do you like most about your job?

I love helping people accomplish their goals and dreams! Customers from all over the U.S. and from all walks of life have come to Four Seasons for sunless training and certification. I enjoy meeting and training each and every one of them! It makes me so happy when they call and tell me their success stories. There is a definite need for more education in the sunless industry, and I love being able to help fill that gap.
