Summer started officially on June 21st. And while many salon operators take on a survivalist mentality when these months come around, we at Helios believe that summer represents a season of opportunity. The question is how? What are you supposed to do when your tanner count dwindles along with the daily sales?
Below are five ideas (all start with “P” to help you remember) to hopefully spur some thoughts and ideas this summer. We’ve seen many salon operators incorporate these ideas and increase their sales and we’re impressed! Keep it going!
PROMOTE YOUR EFT PACKAGES
EFT income allows you to weather the ups and down of the year. So, use the summer months to sign up more of your guest for these memberships.
Offer a “Tan for Free” this summer with the purchase of an EFT membership and bundle it with a lotion promotion, as well.
Be more aggressive in marketing your great tanning packages. Just because it’s summer doesn’t mean you need to stop marketing your top-tier package.
PROVIDE INCENTIVES TO BUILD LOYALTY
Offer your most loyal tanners incentives to bring their friends and family to your salons. Buy one/get one free, lotion discounts, free packettes … sky’s the limit.
Use your best clients to help you build your traffic and reward them for it.
Do joint product and service promotions with fitness centers, photographers, restaurants, etc., in your community to build awareness and drive traffic.
Along the way, your increased community involvement will generate some good will.
POUNCE ON SOCIAL MEDIA
Our statistics tell us that most salon operators are still only using Facebook for social media presence. Consider adding other social media platforms (Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter) and promote them to your loyal followers.
On Facebook, consider boosting some of your posts for better results. It’s unfortunate, but that is a necessity on Facebook these days to get more traction.
PROVIDE FOR YOUR CUSTOMERS
Put together gift bags of sample lotions and other goodies to give to your salon guests. Include special promotions and coupons from other businesses you’ve created partnerships with.
Specify times when your tanners can use upgrade systems or other services you offer.
