It’s hard to believe summer is winding down … and who really knows what fall 2020 has in store for us? This time of year, salon operators are accustomed to finishing up family vacations, getting kids ready for school, planning fall and winter business strategies. We might not be able to travel to faraway places for our vacations, and some of our kids may not return to a normal education program; however, the business must go on.
In this month’s issue, the underlying theme is “Hey! Get it in gear and prepare to come back stronger!” Tanning professionals are talking about getting back to business, and that includes the industry’s No. 1 magazine, IST. Whether it’s changing your policies and COVID-19 protocols, prioritizing salon and equipment maintenance, taking a good look at your budget, enhancing communication with staff and customers, or using samples to boost lotions sales, our expert contributing writers (the industry’s BEST) can help you make it happen. Devoted Creations’ Lisa Saavedra discusses the two types of post-pandemic salon operators – those who ask “why ME?” and those who have a “TRY me!” attitude helping them adapt and move forward. Which type are you? At my salons, the beds are humming with happy tanners! I’d love to hear about how you’re getting back to business.

Sometimes, it takes a crisis to wake you up and move you to reevaluate procedures and priorities. I have!
