Congratulations! You just made it through the notorious retail sales days known as Pink Friday and/or Black Friday. Now, you need a fun way to promote sales throughout the month of December. Creating a series of engaging social media posts for the “12 Days of Christmas” can be a fun and festive way to connect with your audience during the holiday season.
Surveys show that 81% of people anticipate being influenced by some type of holiday marketing.
Think of it like an Advent calendar, revealing a new sales promotion or intriguing piece of content each day. Not to mention the “12 Days of Christmas” is a fun way to get your customers engaged and looking forward to more savings. Those who missed out on Black Friday deals because they were out of town get something else to look forward to. This calendar-style campaign is the perfect way to connect to your target audience, offer deals and roll out incentives to drive sales.
Consumers have grown to anticipate these sorts of rewards, which is why daily promotions succeed. According to a consumer survey, 81% of people anticipate being influenced by some type of holiday marketing. Another recent survey showed that customers consider discounts to be the most important buying incentive, followed by coupons and special offers on popular items. Not only does it increase excitement and anticipation, but it gives them a reason to visit you. Once posted on your website or social media, they can check out all that you are currently offering.
When we (Devoted Creations) did the “12 Days of Christmas” we gave away a product every day to keep our customers engaged. We also came up with a rhyme for each day that went along with the storyline and product. (See graphic.)
To qualify for the giveaway, the winner had to like, comment and share our post to their story. Resharing on their own story will create more daily traffic and engagement for your post – a great way to spread brand awareness and create new relationships.
You could also go a different route – rather than give away a specific product every day, you could promote “12 Days of Savings’’ and offer a different daily discount or promotional bundle. Your guests could spin a wheel for daily savings or you could give away a salon gift card. You could also offer a limited-time discount on a selection of products you are trying to discontinue to make room for new ones. The savings options are endless. Just make it fun and creative and your customers will enjoy every moment!
For proper execution of your holiday specials and deals, you want to make sure you are promoting them online as well as in-store. Maybe you had a customer come into the salon and it was busy, so she didn’t get to hear about or see all the sales you have going on. Having them posted on your social media platforms gives her an opportunity to see all that you are offering. Throughout the campaign, use relevant hashtags to increase visibility, and consider running a contest or giveaway for those who actively participate in the campaign.
This “12 Days of Christmas” social media series will not only entertain your audience but also provide a festive and educational touch to your online presence during the holiday season.
Happy Holidays!
