My pet’s name: Lately
My pet’s breed/species: Mixed breed cat
The story: She was a stray that came to my back door for food every couple of days. I named her Lately, because I would always say to her, “I haven’t seen you lately.” She’d never let me get close to her until something attacked her and she was so injured, she could barely move. I rushed her to the vet, who said to keep her in the house for two weeks. That was two years ago, and she’s still in the house!
Favorite thing about my pet: I like the way she always wants to be loved. She loves for me to pet her, and she always wants to play.
Tricks/talent: She greets me with a head-butt, which is the way cats say “hello” to one another. I guess she thinks I’m a cat, too!
Comments: Lately has leukemia, so I know that her life will be cut short. I intend to make each and every day as special as it can possibly be. She loves to dress up and be photographed and has competed in the Halloween Costume Contest with our local newspaper for the last two years. Each time, she’s been first runner up, and while she doesn’t win, she’s always a winner with me!
