This month, the DC Five-Star Diamond Spotlight shines on SOLUS TANNING, headquartered in Jacksonville, FL. I interviewed Mat Wilson, Regional Manager, and asked him to share his thoughts on the tremendous success of SOLUS TANNING. [gap height=”15″]
IST: When did SOLUS open its first location – and how many do you have now?[gap height=”15″]
Mat: We opened the first salon in 2006 and now have eight locations in the Jacksonville area.[gap height=”15″]
IST: People always ask me, “how can tanning salons succeed in sunny climates?” How is it that SOLUS is thriving when the sun shines practically year-round in Florida?[gap height=”15″]
Mat: Yes, we are blessed with a great climate and beautiful beaches in Jacksonville. While we do get only a few cold weeks in the winter, it’s just like everywhere else in America – most people have to work during the day! That limits their ability to enjoy the sunshine. SOLUS provides them with a way to get a beautiful, golden tan – anytime. And, everyone expects people who live in Florida to be brown year-round![gap height=”15″]
IST: What do SOLUS TANNING guests like most about the salons?[gap height=”15″]
Mat: We offer something for everyone, everywhere! With eight beautiful salons strategically located throughout the Jacksonville area, you’re never more than a few minutes away from a SOLUS salon. You can also sign up and become a SOLUS customer online anytime, via our easy-to-use website. We make it so simple to join and purchase a tanning package or membership. This process makes it easier for our professionally trained staff to spend more time getting to know the needs of every guest. Our high level of personal service truly separates us from everyone else.[gap height=”15″]
IST: How many people do you employ and how many tanning units do you offer?[gap height=”15″]
Mat: We employ 40 people on a year-round basis and offer more than 100 UV-tanning systems and spray-tan booths. The Ergoline 1050 and VersaSpa Pro are among the most popular units with our guests.[gap height=”15″]
IST: What are some of your best-selling lotions?[gap height=”15″]
Mat: Somewhere On A Beach, with its refreshing, tropical scent and skin-smoothing moisturizers is easily one of our best-sellers. Black Gem, Adorned, and Blonde Obsession are also extremely popular and so easy to sell. Your skin just drinks them up![gap height=”15″]
IST: Tell us about your experiences working with DC and what makes them special?[gap height=”15″]
Mat: When it comes to hands-on training and support, Devoted Creations and their amazing team go above and beyond. Lisa and Kandra can instantly energize a crowd just by walking into the room![gap height=”15″]
Recently, they created a special sales incentive for our team. The top two sales reps who sold the most lotions within a 30-day period got free tickets to see The Chainsmokers perform from DC’s private suite at Tampa’s Amalie Arena. Our staff loved the incentive and our lotion sales went through the roof![gap height=”15″]
IST: What does SOLUS TANNING have planned for the future?[gap height=”15″]
Mat: We are always looking for new, innovative ways to provide our guests with the best experience possible. We’re in the process of upgrading equipment in all existing facilities, and we’re always on the lookout for new locations in prime areas.[gap height=”15″]
