FLINT, MI – It comes as no surprise to IST Magazine that two of our recent “Salon of Distinction” feature subjects have also earned top business honors in their own locales!
One of the award-winning salons is Glo Tanning Spa in Williston, ND, recognized as a 2022 “Best of the Bakken” business and top tanning salon by the Williston Herald. Owner Christine Nelson told Sun is Life Director Joe Schuster she would have been pleased with a top three finish but was overjoyed with being chosen No. 1!
“I have so many emotions!” Nelson exclaims. “I am overcome with pride for my staff, because they truly are the ones who won this award. I couldn’t have done it without them.” Glo Tanning Spa also won the award last year, and was one of 12 nominated this year. “We’re shooting for three in a row!” she says.
Christine completed Sun is Life Training online in 2020 and attended the classroom session at the Four Seasons Expo in 2021. “The online course is great, and I currently use it for all my staff training, but the live one was so much more informative,” Nelson states. “Joe does an amazing job teaching it and his wealth of industry knowledge adds so much – I recommend it to everyone.” She attended the 2022 Four Seasons Expo in Nashville and took one of her staff to be trained. “Sun is Life is an amazing tool for owners and managers,” Nelson shares. “It gives the staff great confidence to know what they are talking about when guests have questions or even when they are discussing amongst themselves. I feel that extra confidence carries on with them into adulthood and beyond. It helped me tremendously when I took over my business, never having worked in a tanning salon before.”
Also honored by their local media as “Best of the Best” in Northern Michigan is Electric Sun in Gaylord. Owners John and Kristine Gish told Joe Schuster that they have worked hard at providing the best tanning service in their area. “John and I are thrilled with this recognition!” Kristine exclaims. “This is a pretty big award – they typically do it city-by-city, but this time they included all of Northern Michigan.”
John and Kristine completed Sun is Life Training in the spring of this year. “We will continue training our staff with Sun is Life,” John adds. “Our team is great and very personable with our guests. They learn so much from the training and I feel it gives our business an edge.”
