My pet’s name is: Mandy
My pet’s breed/species: Yorkshire Terrier
The story: Around three years ago, our dog had passed away and my grandma wanted to get my mom another one to ease the pain of that loss. In the past, my grandma and I have volunteered at our ASPCA shelter, so one day when she was there, she saw a sign with information about a bunch of dogs that would be coming to the shelter from a terrible puppy mill that was being shut down by the Humane Society. Mandy was one of the dogs from the mill – she had been shoved into a small crate and was abused daily, delivering more than six litters of pups. To this day, she still flinches when someone pets her head and shakes when someone raises their voice, due to the abuse she endured.
My favorite thing about my pet: Despite her past, she’s extremely friendly! I also love it when she curls up in the cat’s bed that’s a tad too small for her, which makes for a funny site.
My pet’s tricks/talent: Her only talents are barking at the mailman & begging for treats – not much of a “show-dog”, despite her breed!
Sum up your pet in one word: “Sweetheart”
