1 How did you get into the tanning industry?
I got into the industry when I was 17 years old and worked as a nail tech in my parents’ tanning salon. I then went on to open a day spa, three tanning salons, and a gym – all of which gave me the experience I needed to launch Podz Eyewear.
2 What is the best thing about your job?
I really enjoy the creativity involved with my business. I create new products for the market based
on customers’ wants and needs. I love interacting with salon operators and really finding out what makes them happy.
3 What do you do in your spare time?
I love to be outdoors, taking care of our 40 acres of land or playing with my kids.
4 What’s your “pet peeve?”
When someone keeps changing their mind 50 different times! Just make a decision already – right or wrong, stand strong one way or the other.
5 What’s your favorite food?
I try not to eat lots of carbs; but if I had to choose, a great big bowl of spaghetti is my go-to comfort food.
6 What’s your favorite TV show?
Right now, my favorite show is Raising Hope on Netflix. I love watching a series straight through without commercials, and that show is a comedy about family trials – hilarious.
7 What’s at the top of your “Bucket List?”
I want to go to Australia and also visit the pyramids in Egypt. I’ve always been drawn to the pyramids and the legends.
