What is It?

CBD is one of the most prominent phytocannabinoids found in the cannabis plant, representing more than 40% of the hemp plant extract. It can be sourced from both marijuana and hemp plants. Unlike THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), CBD is non-addictive and non-psychoactive.

In 2018, passage of the Farm Bill legalized hemp as an industrial crop and thusly, products that contain less than 0.3% THC became legal. Marijuana-derived CBD remains a Schedule 1 drug regulated by the Food and Drug Administration that can be used by adults in states that have legalized marijuana, or by those approved for medical marijuana use.

Why is it good for us?
[gap height=”15″]
The system in our bodies that is responsible for producing cannabinoids is known as the endocannabinoid system, which was discovered in 1992 by Raphael Mechoulam and researchers with the National Institute of Mental Health. The endocannabinoid system helps promote homeostasis (balance). As we age, sustain injuries and develop diseases, our system produces fewer endocannabinoids; therefore, replenishing depleted endocannabinoids with phytocannabinoids is the reason so many people use CBD on a daily basis; it is a superfood that helps regulate all the other systems in our body!
