[gap height=”15″]When indoor tanners think about protective eye-wear, they most certainly think about Wink-Ease disposables. In our industry, the name is synonymous with the product category itself. In much the same way that we refer to a tissue as a Kleenex, when salon guests need eye protection, they often ask for a pair of Wink-Ease.

[gap height=”15″]When it was first introduced in 1985, Wink-Ease disposables revolutionized the tanning industry as it offered complete UV-protection while also eliminating “raccoon-eyes” and any goggle-related tanlines from nose-bridges or strings.

[gap height=”15″]The Wink-Ease disposable concept also helped reduce the risk of eye infection or other germ-related maladies, as it’s designed for one-time use. Brenda Fishbaugh, the President and co-owner of the company since 1991, has capitalized on the success of Wink-Ease by expanding the product line to include a variety of UV-protective eyewear, as well as a style designed for use with red-light therapy and spray-tan sessions.

[gap height=”15″]In addition to Ultra Gold Wink-Ease, the company also sells Lash-Room Wink-Ease for tanners with longer/false eyelashes and larger eyes. And for salon techs who work on UV systems, the UV-Blockers are specially-designed glasses with a wrap-around style that blocks all UV light from lamps while providing the visibility needed to perform maintenance.

[gap height=”15″]Wink-Ease Dark, which, as the name implies, blocks out a higher level of visible light, are designed for use with red-light technology systems as well as UV systems. “Red-Light devices emit a high level of bright, visible light which many people find uncomfortable,” Brenda says. “Wink-Ease Dark allows them to experience the benefits of red-light in total comfort. Lunchtime tanners wear them during their sessions so that they can nap, too!” she adds.

[gap height=”15″]Wink-Ease sunlessCLEAR are designed to be worn during a spray-tan session, to keep solution mist out of the tanner’s eyes while allowing them to see their surroundings. The sunlessSPECS are designed for the spray-tan tech applying the solution. “It’s amazing how much spray-tan solution techs get in their eyes when they don’t wear our glasses,” Brenda says.

[gap height=”15″]In keeping with the company’s strict policy of adherence to government regulations and policies, Eye Pro’s product line complies with 21 CFR 1040.20 of the FDA’s Code of Federal Regulations.

[gap height=”15″]“We stay informed of any changes with the FDA regarding indoor tanning, including those that are in the proposal stage,” Brenda states. “In this way, we can be ready to act quickly and meet the needs of our salon operator customers,” she adds.

[gap height=”15″]And to help keep their salon customers compliant, Eye Pro has designed educational products and systems that inform the end-user – the salon guest – of the importance of wearing eye protection during every session.

[gap height=”15″]“We created an eye-catching (pun intended) window-cling that salons can apply to their salon’s front door. It serves as a reminder to all salon guests to have and use eye protection every time they tan,” Brenda says.

[gap height=”15″]Eye Pro also offers thousands of free social media ads for salon operators to use in their social media-based marketing. The promotional materials are available free of charge to all Eye Pro customers, and also teaches them how to use Facebook and other social media platforms to increase sales.
