FT. WAYNE, IN – EYE PRO, Inc., world leader in eyewear and makers of WINK-EASE, VIEWkeepers, Fresh-Ease, and Wink-Ease Dark, is helping educate salons on the importance of eye protection.
“We love to help salon teams educate their customers on proper eye protection. Salons want to make sure their customers are using the correct protection for each specific salon treatment,” said EYE PRO President Brenda Fishbaugh. “As a salon operator, it’s very important that you make sure you pay attention to the details,” she continued.
Fishbaugh recommends Wink-Ease Dark eye protection for red light sessions because its dark material helps with the extreme bright lights. Fishbaugh also recommends original Wink-Ease and Viewkeeper disposable eye protection as, “versatile options for both regular and high-pressure tanning.”
“Don’t forget about protecting the salon maintenance technician, as well,” reminded Fishbaugh. “When changing lamps in a tanning system, it’s very important that the eyes are protected, and our UV Blockers are an effective and inexpensive solution,” she continued. Fishbaugh also suggests UV Blockers as protection for spray-tan techs. “And, there’s now a new clear disposable eye protection for spray-tanning,” she explained. “We want to protect our industry and make sure we’re taking the FDA recommendations seriously in our salons. Protecting eyes is what EYE PRO has done for 20+ years, and I take my job very seriously,” Fishbaugh added. “We only get one pair of eyes – so it is SO important to protect them!”
Fishbaugh offered other ideas to help salons educate their clients on the importance of eye safety. She recommends asking clients to see their eye protection when checking in. This helps show tanners that, as a salon, you take eye protection seriously. If the client has damaged goggles, offer them a discount ($1.00 off a new pair) – or some other incentive. Many salon staff are writing the date on the disposable eye protection liner, so their clients cannot use the same pair over and over. Eye Pro offers a one-time use letter on its website (EyePro.net) under the “Tips for Salon Owners” tab that salons may download for free, print out and display in their facilities. Fishbaugh also suggests being sure salon staff wear and demonstrate eye protection, because it’s much easier to sell and explain it to the customer when all of the staff knows how it fits and how to use it.
