Social media ads and magazines are full of new products and opportunities for tanning salon owners to invest in – some are good and some, well, not so good. Let’s take an in-depth look at one of the good ones: FIT Bodywrap. For the past decade, the company has offered its goods and services to businesses in our industry. I recently caught up with Operations Manager, Jennifer Gundert, to get “the skinny” on FIT.

IST: Jennifer, ten years in the indoor tanning industry is quite an accomplishment. What has been the key to your success?

Gundert: Our success and longevity as the industry’s number one spa service is is something we take great pride in, and I think it shows in the services we provide. The FIT Bodywrap is made to integrate seamlessly with the tanning salon business model. It is T-Max compatible and requires the same cleaning solution used in most salons. The FIT Bodywrap System allows salons to diversify their service menu and appeal to a larger customer base without having to significantly change their business operations.

IST: Sounds like a good fit (pun intended)! However, many are not really educated on getting the word out about their ancillary services. What does FIT offer to assist them?

Gundert: Our equipment is a good “fit” in any tanning salon. We offer extensive marketing and training services to our Certified Providers to make the integration of the FIT Bodywrap seamless! Each CP is assigned an account rep who works with the salon to get their staff trained on our products, as well as tips on selling sessions to new and existing customers. Let’s face it – the more your staff knows about what you offer, the more they’re going to sell – and the team at FIT understands that. We also work with owners to develop competitive pricing and packages that complement their current menu and target market. Our CPs also have access to our web portal, which has a plethora of resources, such as our Learning Center, downloadable marketing materials and product images.

IST: So, for our readers, here’s a little background from their website: “FIT Bodywrap produces infrared heat, which is light we can’t see, but can feel as heat. All warm-blooded animals, including humans, generate this type of heat naturally to warm themselves, and more than half of the sun’s heat is infrared, as well. Infrared heat warms us without warming the air around us and penetrates our bodies, rather than only heating the skin. Infrared as used in the FIT Bodywrap is known to help with a wide range of therapeutic benefits.” Sounds great!

Gundert: It IS great! We love to educate others on the many benefits of infrared and how the FIT Bodywrap can not only generate additional revenue, but also how it can provide a convenient service that adds to a salon customer’s overall wellness. Our website has a library of resources and articles for site viewers to read, and we’re available by phone to answer any questions.

IST: Let’s move on to your users. What is the demographic?

Gundert: Our prime market is women 25-45 years of age, but really, we have a role in all age groups, based on their needs. Infrared offers a range of health benefits that can appeal to the masses – from pain relief and muscle recovery, to skin rejuvenation and calorie burn.

IST: What are the company’s short-term goals?

Gundert: FIT Bodywrap is always evolving and working on the latest in infrared technology, so who knows? Perhaps, we’ll have something new and exciting to talk about in the near future … stay tuned!
