You might think I’m describing some features of a car, right?

These technical developments have been incorporated within our tanning units – many of them for years now – and they continue to provide indoor tanners with a more and more exciting and enjoyable experience. They enjoy versatile options that create a tanning session that suits their individual comforts with ease.

Additional features such as interior and exterior LED lighting, décor lighting, aqua-misting and aromatherapy add an overall enjoyable and entertaining experience. From our observation, after removing an older top-level unit from a salon and installing a new system with all of the current features, the salon clientele can hardly wait for the install to be completed; they are overwhelmed with excitement. From the salon operator’s perspective, this is the exact welcomed reaction they were hoping for, fueling the anticipation to experience the new unit. Nothing draws a crowd like a crowd!

This reaction never grows old to us; we’re just as excited as they are! The wonderful thing is that we are seeing this more now than ever as salons nationwide continue to add to and update their upper-level equipment offerings.

As technology evolves, we see the results of continuous research and development with improvement in tanning and when combined with beauty-enhancement features, it takes the experience to even greater heights – with more in store.

It is said that imitation is the highest form of flattery. It is amazing that it seems like luxury car manufacturers are following sunbed manufacturers by offering sensory features in their top-of-the-line vehicles. Only recently, they have introduced seven-color-changing LED interior illumination along with aromatherapy through the air vents in the passenger compartment. Can you imagine the fun they will have when they develop seven-color-changing LED exterior illumination …?  It will happen and it will be a huge seller. This year, top-line cars started offering phone-charging station pads in the console. Well, guess what – a top of the line sunbed now features a phone-charging pad with design assistance from a world class sports car manufacturer.

As the Vice President of Technical Services for PC Tan and having been in the industry since 1982, all of this excites me beyond belief. And what I really like is that I am seeing the continued introduction of good and useful technology in tanning systems today. Just adding more bells and whistles and making things overly complicated is not good for any of us. But well-thought-through and forward-moving technology benefits everyone!
