With more hours of daylight each day, now is the optimal time to ensure a healthy body and mind.
Spring is in the air! Flowers are blooming, the earth is reawakening and your salon clients are preparing for summer. Busy Season is here again and what better way to welcome springtime than by encouraging clients to put a spring in their step! With more hours of daylight each day, now is the optimal time to ensure a healthy body and mind. This month, I’ve included some wellness tips to benefit both salon operators and salon clients.
Tidy Up
De-clutter the places in which you spend the most time: your home, your business, your car. Imagine the ease of finding what you need without a search and feeling a little moment of Zen during a busy day. Removing clutter from your daily life can bring you a clear mind and a sense of balance. Have you been meaning to go through old files, start a new promotion or mark down some products to bring in new ones? A little spring cleaning can be important for increasing productivity and improving sales.
Detox & Let Go
Encourage clients to get back on track after what may be considered a holiday “hibernation” by focusing on healthy choices and letting go of the ones that are no longer serving them. A detox program can be a great start, especially for those looking to drop a few pounds, resume an exercise routine and improve the digestive system. Simple ways to start include drinking more water, eating healthier meals and participating in sweat-inducing activities.
Warm Up & Get Active
As clients put away their winter coats, invite them to visit you for a bit of warmth.
A low body temperature can contribute to many physical problems, such as fluid retention, allergies, asthma, muscle and joint aches. So, shake those winter blues – but start slow. Gentle and regular exercise such as a daily walk, visit to the gym or a fitness class can make a big difference. When the body’s lymphatic system becomes activated, it can act as a system for waste disposal.
Now is a great time for infrared sessions, as well. Soothing infrared heat can positively affect the body by improving circulation, ridding it of toxins, relieving pain and strengthening the immune system. Infrared heat can also improve the balance of blood pressure, blood sugar, and nutrients in the cells, resulting in increased muscle strength.
Take Care of Yourself AND Your Clients
A little bit of TLC can go a long way and create lasting memories. Many of your clients come to your salon to indulge in a bit of self-care. Make their visits extra special by offering fruit-infused water, service packages and product promotions, hosting a prize raffle or sharing wellness tips on social media. Make sure that you and your team are in good health as well – inspire those around you with your dedication and drive!
Preventive Care for Allergies
As plants blossom, there’s bound to be pollen in the air and many of us suffer from seasonal allergies. There are numerous ways to reduce allergic reactions naturally. Herbal remedies, such as milk thistle, nettle and goldenseal brewed into a tea could be effective for combatting hay fever. Congestion is a common symptom this time of year, and the use of essential oils such as peppermint, lemon and lavender can ease a stuffy nose. Incorporating an essential oil diffuser at your salon can create a pleasant and relaxing scent for you and your clients.
So go ahead … welcome spring with open arms and a healthy clientele!
