My pet’s name:
Tiki Mae
Breed:
Chihuahua
The Story:
We lost my husband’s mom in December of 2009 and in January, 2010 I was treated for thyroid cancer. After two major life events, we wanted some carefree happiness in our family. I found a picture of Tiki online and I knew she was the one! Upon bringing her home, I don’t think her paws felt the ground for more than a few minutes a day.
My favorite thing about Tiki:
Every time we leave our home, Tiki stands guard on the back of a chair to watch the neighbors. I can’t begin to explain how safe our family feels with a 6-pound Chihuahua looking out for us.
Tricks/Talent:
Tiki has mastered a skill most parents cannot get their children to learn. After she’s finished playing with her toys, she puts them back in the basket.
Comments:
During our first trip to our vet, we learned Tiki came from a puppy mill. Our first sign should have been meeting the breeder at a gas station and having to pay cash. She was suffering from ringworm and roundworms, has crossed eyes, luxating patella and mange. We managed to work with the local humane society and were able to shut that mill down. Petadviser.com gives much more info on puppy mills.
To sum up Tiki in one word:
Special
