Significantly reduce “black ends” on your VHO reflector sunlamps? With its new Large Cathode Shield (LCS) technology, that’s exactly what Interlectric Corp. aims to do.
“Power perceived is power achieved” … nothing better proves this adage than VHO reflector sunlamps with blackened ends. While a lamp in this condition can still deliver an awesome tan, salon guests tend to think otherwise. Rather than expect you to explain sunlamp performance to your tanners, Interlectric Corp. has developed a new technology – Large Cathode Shield or LCS – that significantly reduces end-blackening on its VHO reflector sunlamps. This should be great news to salon owners and tanners alike!
Developed by engineers Ken Frazier and Scott Pearson and Interlectric President Steve Rothenberg, LCS technology addresses the common cosmetic problem of end-blackening in VHO sunlamps. “This effect is created by the black film from the power surges that occur each time a VHO lamp is turned on,” said Bob Brown, Interlectric Marketing Coordinator. “These materials tend to be drawn to the cathodes at the lamp-ends, which act like a magnet or vacuum. Even though this doesn’t affect a sunlamp’s performance, the end result looks very similar to a light bulb that’s burned out, so it’s easy to see why tanners might get the wrong idea when they see this in a tanning system.”
As a sunlamp manufacturer – the only one in the U.S. – Interlectric maintains strict product quality control and the LCS technology is no exception. “We’ve put this technology through thousands of hours of testing,” Brown said, “and all of the lamps held up very well. In the past, salon owners would experience end blackening after 100 hours of usage, but now we’re confident in saying that they’ll notice a very significant reduction of this effect over the useful life of each lamp.” LCS technology is now a standard feature in all Interlectric VHO reflector models.
