Dear Readers,
What’s more motivating than a brand-new year, a new beginning? As business owners and operators, each New Year motivates us to make changes that will make us more profitable, more streamlined – perhaps we make plans to diversify by adding products or services to our menu.
For tanning professionals looking to invest in their businesses this year, the recent National Tanning Expo offered an exciting look at what’s available in the marketplace. The well-attended event was filled with energetic salon owners who plan to spend money to upgrade equipment, possibly expand or diversify. That’s exciting! My 40 years of Tan Biz experience tells me that this is a great time to invest. Hopefully, our industry can catch the headwind of our increasingly robust economy.
The first educational offering at the NTE was the award-winning Sun is Life® Salon Operator Training & Certification, taught classroom style by SIL Director, Joe Schuster. Many industry veterans and manufacturer reps were also on hand to educate attendees about ways to work smarter and be more profitable. Of course, this issue is filled with plenty of ideas from our expert contributors – check out Jerry Deveney’s article “2020 Vision: Your Clear Path to Profitability”. This month, we welcome a new column written by an industry authority and member of Team PC Tan, Eric Haynes.
Our goal has always been to inform, and help you educate your tanners about moderate UV exposure. Read Joe Schuster’s piece on new research: “Vitamin D and Its Role in Reducing Melanoma” You can share this info on your salon’s facebook page, link it in an Instagram post … it’s your duty as a salon operator to be an expert!
If you’re looking for a way to train your team and operate the most professional facility in your community, you can always turn to Sun is Life Training – 24/7/365. A classroom session will be offered at two upcoming regional events. Visit sunislife.com for more info on how to transform your team for 2020.
I wish you all a healthy and prosperous New Year!
