Dear Readers,
Who’s ready for spring? Better question: has anyone ever been MORE ready for spring?
At this writing, we’re having some typically blistering February cold in the Northeast … but it’s been driving lots of tanners into my salons to warm up their buns!
Many salons had a rough 2020 “busy season,” but the industry seems to be getting ready for a reprieve this spring. In February, Heartland Tanning hosted America’s Tanning Virtual Expo (their 30th annual event) in a first-ever virtual format and at this writing, Four Seasons Tanning is preparing to present the National Tanning Expo Virtual Show (March 2-3). Included in both events was IST’s Sun is Life® Training – Heartland offered their attendees the online certification format and Four Seasons invited SIL Director, Joe Schuster, to present the first-ever virtual classroom version. These veteran product providers found a way to adapt to pandemic restrictions, “gather” salon operators for valuable networking in the virtual world and support the success of the tanning community.
Two members of the tanning community are highlighted in our “7 Questions” features: one a veteran (Four Seasons’ Darren French) and one a relative newbie (Devoted Creations’ Bailey Johnson), both of whom have found a home in the tan biz. It’s fun getting to know a little bit about them.
Also featured is Four Seasons Tanning, a FL salon that enhances its operations with a well-trained staff – Sun is Life Training, of course! With tanner traffic warming up at my salons, I rely on Sun is Life® Training & Certification to prepare my teams to offer every guest a top-notch experience. It’s always accessible, affordable, and salon operators who get trained with Sun is Life are eligible to get free national publicity in our Salon of Distinction feature (bonus!)
I hope you’re getting ready to kick some butt this season! It’s no secret that our industry has risen to challenges in the past and I believe the sun will continue to shine on the tanning community.
