When the perfect career choice coincides with the perfect location at the perfect time, the result is Perfect Tan of Temecula, CA.
Five years ago, Brian and Alyssa De Mint decided that they didn’t want to uproot their life in Riverside, CA. This meant the couple would not be relocating in order for Brian to pursue his goal of becoming a forensic psychologist for the Federal Bureau of Investigation. “My wife has always been an indoor tanner,” said Brian, “and she introduced me to it while we were preparing for our honeymoon in Maui. While our local salon was clean and the equipment worked, the staff was lacking in customer service skills. We asked our friends Andy and Sara McCollum if they wanted to join us in the business and we were very pleased that they found the idea exciting.”
Roughly 45 minutes away in Temecula, the De Mints and McCollums found the perfect location for their salon. “The walls were already built, the electrical wiring completed and the air conditioning systems upgraded,” Brian explained. “All we had to do was a little bit of aesthetic work and install the tanning units.” The couples chose the name “Perfect Tan” to distance their business from its previous incarnation, and opened the salon’s doors in November, 2008. “Our grand opening event attracted people for the first two weeks, then traffic slowed down,” Brian said. “This actually helped put our salon in the minds of the community, and we became the salon of choice for many of them in January and February.”
Two months ago, Perfect Tan completed an ambitious expansion. “When the pet store went out of business, we purchased the space and knocked down the wall that separated the two locations,” Brian said. This decision added 1,100 square feet to the 2,000 they already had, which was enough room to add five tanning rooms, an office, a laundry room and an area for vanity stations. “Our clients appreciate all the added amenities, and they especially love the fact that there’s no more waiting for their session,” Brian added.
With its recent renovations in place, Brian, Alyssa, Sara and Andy plan to someday expand Perfect Tan with more locations. Brian also says they’re considering franchising the business, but only after three successful Perfect Tan salons are operating. “In the meantime, we plan to keep operating our business the way we have been,” he said. We take great pride in helping people achieve the results they desire.”
