Dave Sowers
Senior Sales Professional, Interlectric Corporation
How did you get into the tanning industry?
I was straight out of college and looking for a job to start paying back my student loans. My father mentioned Interlectric, as they were a local company that manufactured fluorescent lamps. I originally thought I was applying for a general lighting sales position, but ended up interviewing for a position in the tanning department. The rest, as they say, is history.
What is the best thing about your job?
I really enjoy communicating with my customers. I’ve learned a lot from many great people in this industry over the years, and love to help salon owners grow their business. Working for the only sunlamp manufacturer in the U.S. has given me a great knowledge and understanding of how the lamps work, and I like to pass that on to salon operators, so they can provide the best possible tans to their clientele.
What do you do in your spare time?
I enjoy golf, bowling, and spending time with my family.
What’s your “pet peeve?”
I don’t like inconsiderate people! It can be a driver cutting you off, or someone cutting in front of you in the check-out line. Life is short; take time to enjoy it.
What’s your favorite food?
I try to eat healthy, but do enjoy a good New York-style pizza with everything on it from time to time.
What’s your favorite TV show?
My wife and I absolutely love The Blacklist, but I also enjoy Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D.
What’s at the top of your “Bucket List?”
I’ve always wanted to travel Europe, as there is such great history there. But at the top of my Bucket List would be to play golf in Scotland.
