Jessica Snider
Regional Sales Manager
New Sunshine
1. How did you get into the tanning industry?
I was a lifeguard in high school, and after the summer was over, I had awful tan lines! I went into a tanning salon to even out my tan and the girl behind the counter (who ended up becoming my best friend) offered me a job because I was bubbly and tan. After that, I worked for four years as manager at another franchise group. Then, my husband (boyfriend at the time) invested in me and we opened a salon that we operated for four years. When I got the job with New Sunshine, I was traveling full time, so we sold the salon about a year later.
2. What is the best thing about your job?
It’s the customers who have become my friends. I love people! The experience working in all avenues of this industry has really propelled and motivated me to educate and guide my customers to success. I understand and I can relate, which gives me a unique understanding of what is needed to inspire tanning salon staff. I also have a WANDERLUST mindset – so jet-setting around the country is so freeing and exciting. Of course I miss my husband, family and friends; but while I’m young, I want to soak up this experience and make the most of my travels.
3. What do you do in your spare time?
Travel! Even though I do it for a living, I still have other places I need to see! My husband and I love to hike, kayak, bike, paddleboard and eat! I also love to cook. So, I enjoy being home and cooking for my husband or friends.
4. What’s your “pet peeve?”
Oh, man! Since I travel a lot, I’d have to say it’s when people eat stinky food on the plane (ha-ha). Or, snore in my ear. Also, I’m always rushing through airports, so when people stop in the middle of the concourse … move aside, people!
5. What’s your favorite food?
I love every food. There is literally not ONE food that I don’t like. I was blessed with a good palate. But I really love Vietnamese Pho … it’s a rich broth with vegetables and meat. Incredible!
6. What’s your favorite TV show?
When I’m on the road, the best thing to do in my hotel room (unashamedly) is watch Netflix! I love cooking shows – any cooking show – but my favorites are “The Great British Baking Show,” “Iron Chef,” “Chopped,” and “Masterchef.” But my all-time favorite shows are “Survivor” and “Big Brother!”
7. What’s on your “Bucket List?”
Missions work! Every two years, I lead a team of medical missionaries in a different country. We see thousands of people in third world countries receive treatment and healing. It’s my passion in life to change the world, one country at a time. I believe in Purpose, and my Purpose is to lead and bring healing to nations in need. I work with a stellar missions group called Missions.ME, who also happen to be some of my best friends. It’s extremely fulfilling.
