Typical frigid and snowy northeastern weather couldn’t keep nearly 200 salon professionals from attending a regional event designed to prepare them for a successful 2015 tanning season.
The veteran Future Industries team has hosted their popular annual Expo for over 20 years. This installment attracted salon operators and staff from Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New Jersey, some driving for five hours to get there. “Considering the weather during that week and the snowfall that morning, we were very pleased with the turnout,” said Irene Ferreira, Marketing Coordinator.
The venue for this year’s event offered an intimate atmosphere, giving the product vendor representatives the opportunity for up-close and personal interaction with the attendees. “Our motive was simple, in that we facilitated a more personal approach to what we can provide to our clients to help them succeed,” added Irene.
The night before the Expo, Rebecca Sharber of Norvell presented a Basic Sunless Training session, and several classes focused on Counter Sales Training were also well attended.
Of course, no distributor event is complete without prize giveaways, and the generous Expo vendors did not disappoint. Prizes included sunlamps, 1,600 New Sunshine Points, Visa gift cards, two iPad Minis, and gift certificates toward the purchase of a Norvell sunless unit.
Maja Veskovic drove for over two hours from West Greenwich, Rhode Island to attend the Northeast Expo with her mother, Margaret Summer, owner of Tanning Oasis. It was Maja’s first experience with Future Industries’ event and she was very impressed. “The schedule was very well organized and we learned a lot from all of the sessions,” Maja said. “I really liked the sales tips from Gina (Jaeger) of Sun Evolutions. We’ve already been using her advice for improving lotion sales at our salon.”
Team Future Industries consider their 2015 event a success. “The unique setting of our home office allowed our staff to focus on the people who matter most to us as a company – our customers,” Irene Ferriera said. ■
