With busy season coming to an end soon, there are several ways to keep the momentum of this prosperous time going as we approach the upcoming summer months.
A great way to kick off the summer and encourage tanners to patronize your business at a time of year when they might not normally be apt to do so, is to add a new equipment type to your service menu.

Reviewing reports that analyze your tan line (wait list) and tans per bed type during busy season will give you a good idea of the types of equipment that are most popular with your customers. Adding a similar, yet new and improved model, will undoubtedly entice existing members to visit in the off season and will likely help you gain new ones, too!

As you prepare your marketing plan for the second half of the year, in addition to directing your efforts to obtaining new clientele, don’t forget to utilize the most important resource in your tool box – your existing client database. Focusing your marketing on specific types of customers will prove to be beneficial.

You worked hard to acquire those new customers during busy season, so you should target them with specific promotion types that will keep them coming back on a regular basis. Also, running a store absence report for the last six months will give you a good idea of which customers didn’t come through your door during season that you need to re-attract. And don’t forget about rewarding your customers who have spent the most money since the beginning of the year to show them how much you appreciate them.

So, what type of marketing should you do at this time of year? To answer this question, analyze what forms of advertising and promotions have been most successful in the past and plan similar campaigns. Also, be sure to take advantage of cost effective methods of marketing such as social media, and don’t be afraid to get out into your community and do things like sponsoring charitable summer events.

And what types of promotions should you run, you might ask? Busy season isn’t the only time that customers will purchase EFT memberships if you make this service offering appealing. You might consider offering the first month free, along with 50 percent off any product purchase on the day of enrollment – only available during the summer months.

Simply-configurable promos such as a free packet of lotion with every session at your highest tanning level, or $25 off any product or service purchase of $75 or more are always favorites.

Another promotion that will not only benefit existing customers but will also entice new ones is a referral contest. On top of customers earning their regular referral credit, run a contest through the end of the summer that awards the customer who has the most referrals with a free bottle of your hottest lotion and a free session of their choice.

Expand the success of your busy season well into the summer months by doing some simple data analysis and configuring transitory promotions that will surely appeal to both existing and new customers!
