Red-light sessions have become the new treatment of the future. Although this wellness treatment has only become popular recently, light therapy has been dated back as far as ancient Greece. With the discovery of the laser in 1960 and the developments of the low-level laser therapy (LLLT) in 1967, light therapy has been gaining traction every year.

More notably in the 1990s, NASA furthered research of red-light therapy treatments and found that by treating wounds with red light, cuts and sores were able to heal faster. They also noticed the skin around the wound retained moisture better and regained elasticity. Since then, the use of red light has taken off in the wellness industry. Found in machines like infrared saunas, facial array systems, tanning beds, and much more, the increase of red light and its wellness benefits has only just begun.

By example, we have found red-chromo lights to be an effective and low-cost way to add additional wellness benefits to our services. While the heat from our infrared saunas have wellness benefits for the user, we have learned that by adding only red lights to our systems, we are providing additional ambient enjoyment and wellness benefits that would not have been there otherwise.

Operating systems with LED red lights is an economical choice, as well. The additional cost to run red-light clusters during each session is only a few pennies, at most. Plus, the bulbs last on average 35 times longer (or more) than an average incandescent bulb. Most importantly, LED chromo lights are not lasers, they do not emit heat or harmful UV rays, so their illumination can be holistically applied to the body longer without creating any discomfort.

A 2014 study done by Chaves, et al. determined that the effect of cumulative holistic red-light exposure can be equivalent to treatment done with a red laser. In fact, the study analyzed 68 separate medical studies and found holistic red LED light to be just as effective as red-laser light therapy.

Since there are studies indicating that red LEDs are just as effective, you can consider adding LED red light for enjoyment and improved wellness along with your traditional services. For instance, an infrared sauna session can easily include red-chromo lights. Because of the many wellness benefits associated with holistic red lights, a simple sauna session can turn into an overall healthy skin wellness session.

The health and wellness benefits of red light don’t stop at improved skin health, either. Scientific studies have linked some LED red-light technology to be beyond wellness product claims, offering benefits such as increased wound healing, reduction in fatigue, improved physical performance, improved skin tone and collagen density, reduced depression and increased immunity, just to name a few.

In the new and competitive wellness industry, we know how important it is to stay ahead of the market. Red-light wellness sessions are just one of the many new and exciting technologies that have been found to be easy, cost-effective, and beneficial for improved wellness and healthy lifestyle benefits.

With new science and emerging technology that’s constantly increasing our awareness of new wellness benefits that the market didn’t fully understand before, it’s important to stay current and be informed, or your business will be left behind.
