After years in one location, the National Tanning Expo is heading west – to the Midwest, that is. Hosted by Four Seasons Sales & Service, the effort is about bringing a renewed enthusiasm to the national tanning industry.

“We are so excited about the National Tanning Expo coming to the Ameristar Casino in St. Charles, MO this October!” exclaims longtime Four Seasons team leader and event coordinator, Sheila Routon. “The fall season, and especially October, have been the perfect time of year for the expo and that will continue. However, in order to grow, the event needed a new venue.”

Located in close proximity to St. Louis, St. Charles is an awesome choice. With daytime temps historically nestled in the low 60s, you can certainly see the sites in town before and after the expo activities, as well. Of course, a visit to the famous Gateway Arch is a must. Choosing a dining spot may be tough, as there is a plethora of choices to satisfy the most selective of palates. I know that many attendees will want to know about the local party scene – they’ve got that covered, too! (See the inside-front cover spread for more.)

I have been to almost every expo held in Nashville, and I agree – it’s time for a change. So, what’s in store for attendees? The agenda is packed with dynamic and energetic speakers, arguably, the best of the best. These are the folks who drive the business of indoor tanning to salons, and they’ll be on hand to present operators with new and exciting opportunities to grow their business. Speaking of driving your business, I’ll be on hand to teach Sun is Life® Certification – the industry’s premier salon training program. I always enjoy teaching this class and those who complete it are eligible for a “Salon of Distinction” feature. So, sign up today!

“Our initial goal was to make this a show like the ones we had seen decades ago: a packed house, equipment innovations on display, new and exciting tanning products, and ‘tons of fun’, adds Routon. “It’s the time when you can rub elbows with not only industry leaders, but fellow salon owners, as well.” The result? An incredible networking opportunity! This is also the time of year that many companies will unveil their new products for the upcoming season. “All the industry’s leading lotion and equipment providers will be there,” Routon says. “It’s a can’t-miss event, for sure.”

Four Seasons President, Ed Jerger, also commented on the event’s move to St. Charles. “Joe, our industry deserves it, and we will make it happen. Most exhibitors have committed to support these goals and many have done so very generously. KBL has provided the main prize, a Series 7900 tanning bed valued at over $39,000; New Sunshine will host a party at the Ryse Night Club on Monday evening; fantastic specials at every exhibitor booth – and that’s just the start of it!”

The move has also gained enthusiasm from the product vendors. Jerger continued, “With all the support we are receiving from our tanning industry friends, we found it necessary to change our goal. This will be the best show salon operators have ever seen! You definitely don’t want to miss this one, and we are very excited to see you in St. Charles.”
