I won’t start out bemoaning the “slow season” – if you’ve taken some tips from your IST Magazine and done a little savvy planning, you can ride it out and be ready to cash in when traffic picks up again in the coming months. Stay ahead of your competition!
My company publishes several magazines, and like other businesses, competition is always a consideration; but, with IST, I’ve been confident for many years that we have no competition. What makes us the industry leader is what our readers find in these pages – every month. I find it humorous that people who have little or no “sun biz” experience feel that they somehow have valuable info for salon operators … well, I won’t waste any more space here talking about that.
As with every issue of IST, this month’s contributed columns cover an impressive range of topics. I’m proud to have this group of professionals writing for us, offering expertise in many different fields. We have all the important salon operation mechanics represented this month with Melissa Damiani’s “Lync IT,” Lisa Parsons’ “Notes from the Road,” Jenny Bortman’s “Insurance Matters” and Kara Willingham’s “FITspiration.” Add to that a piece by Brynn Scarborough of Ergoline, who approaches the concept of fear as it relates to the business mindset in “Future Focused.” For many years, Brenda Fishbaugh’s “Eye to Eye” has told us how to effectively sell and educate tanners about eye protection, and Michael Stepp has provided expert info about UV light and sunlamps with “Ask Wolff.” David McFarland’s “Epic Sales” is not only entertaining, but packed with proven sales tips. The spray-tan market is certainly well-covered with “All Things Sunless” from Team Norvell, and the “Queen of Sunless,” Veronique Munro of Infinity Sun, offers you her many years of expertise. Rounding out the list of quality content is Gary Lipman’s “UK View” with industry insight from across the pond, and “Your Monthly Motivation” has a little “in your face” advice from business mogul, Grant Cardone. Great stuff!
Be sure to check in with “ITA Up- date” for info on the status of their fight to protect our industry from unreason- able government regulation. If you are not yet a member of YOUR industry organization, now is definitely the time to get on board!
Don’t forget, you can check out all this great content online, as well – you owe it to your business to spend some time with the experts in your IST!
Thanks for reading,
