JACKSON, TN – Nearly 30 staff members at Island Tan & Swimwear recently earned their Sun is Life salon operator certification, thanks to Dave Holtgrewe of Four Seasons Sales & Service.
Training is important at Island Tan & Swimwear in Jackson, TN and the salon’s owners – Lisa and Rex Russom – have always made sure their staff participates in the most up-to-date educational programs. After learning about what Sun is Life has to offer, the couple contacted Dave Holtgrewe – Four Seasons employee and Sun is Life trainer – to certify 26 members of their salon staff. “We were most impressed with the program’s back-to-basics approach to teaching our team everything they need to know to operate a salon on a daily basis,” said Lisa. “We were also impressed by the focus on moderate tanning and the look good/feel good aspects of getting a tan. We would like to see the industry, as a whole, get back on board with this approach.”
Holtgrewe travelled to Jackson, TN to train all of Island Tan’s staff in two sessions. “Both classes went very well,” Holtgrewe said. “The information was very straightforward, as well as interesting and engaging, and everyone at Island Tan did a wonderful job with the material. I got a lot of great feedback from the staff, which was very encouraging,” he reported. Holtgrewe attended a Sun is Life training seminar at Four Seasons in October, and was so impressed with the program that he asked to become a trainer. “It’s a great way for people to understand that tanning is a cosmetic pursuit that helps people look and feel good, which is just what this industry needs,” he added.
Sun is Life is IST Magazine’s online salon operator training program consisting of 25 user-friendly modules, offering a Guest Experience Medallion (GEM) certificate upon completion. The program blends interactive technology with advanced training techniques to create a completely new genre of Internet-enabled learning.
